No tuition is billed to families with children enrolled in our school.
Since its beginning, the members of Messiah Lutheran Church have recognized the urgent need for Christ-centered education for children. The large majority of the funds needed to operate Messiah Lutheran School come from the voluntary contributions of the members of Messiah Lutheran Church. These offerings are made in the spirit of 2 Corinthians 5:14-15: “For the love of Christ compels us, because we judge thus: that if One died for all, then all died; and He died for all, that those who live should live no longer for themselves, but for Him who died for them and rose again.”
No. Our Board of Education reviews each enrollment application from both members and non-members. It then decides, on a case-by-case basis, whether to accept a given enrollment. This is done on a conditional basis for non-members.
All parents agree to have their children participate fully in the course of religious instruction offered at the school. We encourage church attendance at Messiah Lutheran, and expect that MLS students will be present at our worship services when the school children sing for the service. We also expect that the parents will have a series of meetings with Messiah’s pastors, to find out what MLS students are being taught concerning the Word of God.
It often happens that, after reviewing the teachings of our church and school, non-member families find themselves in agreement with our teachings and become members of Messiah Lutheran Church. Sometimes they conclude that they do not want to become members. Extenuating circumstances are taken into account, but our Board of Education may choose not to re-enroll the child or children of that family the following school year. We are interested in serving all the spiritual needs of the families in our school, not just the grade school educational needs. Also, we are confident that our families, our school, and our church will experience God’s continued blessings when we all subscribe to the “Lifetime Voluntary Support” concept.
Among the members of Messiah Lutheran Church, there are many who no longer have children enrolled in our school. Still, they are committed to the idea that a solid Christian education is very important for all of our children, and they contribute generously to make this possible. Many of the families that do have children enrolled in the school cannot now afford the actual, full cost of a private Christian education. We are happy to support them now. We are also counting on the spirit of the Gospel to move them to continue to support the school through their church offerings, long after their children have graduated from grade 8. This “Lifetime Voluntary Support” concept is the real answer to the question, “How Can We Do That?”
Feel free to contact us. We would be happy to meet with you at your convenience. We are glad to introduce prospective parents and their children to our Principal, teachers, pastors, and facility.
